"Strength of a Woman: A Phyllis Hyman Tribute Starring Queen Diva"

Welcome to the Official Strength of a Woman: A Phyllis Hyman Tribute Starring Queen Diva website! We have been producing this amazing production since 2012 in the Greater New York City area. This production is the ONLY Phyllis Hyman tribute that is supported and approved by the Hyman Family, Friends and the Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio. We have performed Off-Broadway (The Triad Theater/Sugar Bar/Yotel Hotel) and Broadway (Feinstein's/54 Below/Club Iguana). We are committed to also sharing information about Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention which is a great cause close to Queen Diva, a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and American Foundation of Suicide Prevention Advocate (AFSP),

“She can SING….She can REALLY SING!”~Norman Connors, Producer/Songwriter, Produced “Betcha By Golly Wow” by Phyllis Hyman

“On behalf of the New York Blues and Jazz Society, Inc., I commend Queen Diva, Soul Divas Night Out Presents and Divine Voices Media for producing the show in support of the advancement of Blues and Jazz music.” ~Robert “Bob” Putignano, President of the NY Blues and Jazz Society, Inc.

"You sound wonderful. You do my cousin well. You have an awesome idea for your tribute show. I'm glad that Phyllis' music will transcend generations and at the same time bring hope to people suffering with mental illness. ~Vanessa Farley (Hyman) Phyllis Hyman's cousin

Queen Diva, Star/Producer of the ONLY tribute to Phyllis Hyman that is approved and supported by the Hyman Family and Friends as well as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray who created THRIVE NYC, a plan to overhaul the city's mental health and substance abuse services, is Integrity Beauty Woman of Excellence Lifetime Ambassador 2014/Spokesperson and International Recruiter 2020 and was inducted as Miss New York Plus America Lifetime in 2015.

A Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention Advocate with both the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) and American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP). This is close to her heart because both her musical idol Phyllis Hyman suffered and succumbed to suicide, but also two of her family members. It is her mission to supply information at her performances and to do community service to help raise awareness.

Queen Diva’s voice has been compared to having the look and voice very similar to the Legendary Songstress Phyllis Hyman for many years. She came up with the idea 15 years ago while listening to Phyllis Hyman’s “As You Are” with Pharaoh Sanders to perform a musical tribute to Phyllis Hyman and discuss her favorite songs recorded and performed by her as well as history about Phyllis Hyman and her mental illness that ultimately led her to end her life in 1995.

This tribute called “Strength of a Woman: A Phyllis Hyman Tribute” is a celebration of Phyllis Hyman’s music and also closure for many of her “Phans” as they are affectionately called worldwide to understand the pain she was going through with Bipolar Disease all of her life. This production can be a 60, 90, or 120 minute show with either a pianist, trio or band for it is as flexible as the venue or promoter/producer inquires from our production. It has evolved in the last 15 years from conception to having our 1st SOLD OUT performance at the Triad Theater Off-Off Broadway on May 18, 2018 to our Broadway Supper Club debut at Feinstein’s/54 Below on Sept 3, 2018 following Michael Feinstein and Christine Ebersole finale performance of “Two For The Road” Summer residency.
